When I think of my mom, I think about safety, security, and the ability to let my guard down and be held, comforted and loved.
There was a season where I needed the strength and push of my father. But in a season of grief and rest, I’ve so appreciated the warmth and unconditional love from my mom. One that I’ve taken for granted, or that at times I thought was too much. But oh how my heart just falls into her arms – the empathy, the compassion and to be held when you don’t have the words.
The one to sit with you in your tears, to encourage you and help you see what you don’t see about yourself, and to provide peace and safety in the midst of chaos and trials. Her love has carried me and given me strength during many hard nights.
I have grown such a deep gratitude to have a mother that helps me see the unconditional love of God more clearly. Her love and her comfort have helped me to better understand God’s love for me. I pray that I can be a reflection of God’s love in that way to others.
As she has walked with me in this tough season, I have seen God’s purpose and intention with the role of a mother and father. Mom’s have a beautiful role to play in the lives of their kids and the lives of others.
To all the mom’s and mom’s to be one day – thank you for all you do. Happy Mother’s day!
